Wari Metalworker’s Burial Links Castillo de Huarmey to Bolivia

Lead-isotope, chemical and mineralogical analysis of metallurgical waste from a burial at Peru’s Castillo de Huarmey suggests the material most likely came from the Pulacayo region of modern Bolivia. The finding points to long-distance movement of metals and possibly metallurgical knowledge across the Andes before the Inca Empire.
